You may experience difficulty in watching Freeview TV due to various reasons:

1. You are using a rooftop aerial to watch Freeview TV

 

- the region is not covered by Freeview service at present;

 

- your rooftop aerial has not got sufficient bandwidth for digital signals;

 

- cable distance between the aerial socket and your TV caused signal delay;

 

- more than one TVs connected to the same aerial caused signal decay.

 

2. You use a portable antenna to watch Freeview

 

- your region is not covered by Freeview service at present;

 

- Freeview signal is not trong enough to support a portable antenna in your region;

 

- the portable antenna used has not got sufficient singal receving capability;

 

- signal is interfered by other electical or eletronic appliances nearby;

 

- signal is shielded by structures including buldings nearby or the walls/ceilings of your house.

 

The difficulty is mainly due to constrains of Freeview service in the UK at present not yet operating in full power. Our experience shows that people can watch Freeview TV by a portable antenna in about 50% of the regions at present although the quality of reception may vary from time to time even in the same locations affected by various factors.

 

The reception will however be improving along with the progress of the Digital TV Switchover program (see the details at Scheduled Upgrading) and it is expected that a good quality portable digital TV antenna will enable people to watch Freeview TV almost everywhere after the Switchover is completed in their region.

 

If your rooftop aerial has not got sufficient bandwidth for digital signals, you may need to update or upgrade your TV aerial in this case;

 

A signal booster or a high gain antenna with an amplifier, such as Telecam TCE2001 TV Antenna with Amplifer or One for All SV9365 46dB Amplified Freeview/DAB Antenna, may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong for the time being.
